Dog Human Vs. Power Human
Synopsis
Dog Human Vs. Power Human (DHVPH) is a film born of limitations. Going back into yet another lock down, having our larger projects derailed once again, we set ourselves the task of creating a film with four additional limitations:
- Minimal set dressing.
- Use the entire house.
- No green screen.
- Not a comedy.
We succeeded in the majority of these, the set dressing did expand a bit however as we created and printed posters, though, compared to other projects, it is still quite limited. We got around this, and the no green screen rule, more so by using the projector extensively to stream the external story world right into the character’s personal space. From a narrative perspective this also served as a tool to elucidate their inner world.
Thematically the film deals with power, it’s cultural representation and the pursuit thereof. The world we have created is a hyperbolic parallel to our own. As an abstraction it is of necessity simplified and seeks to demonstrate the underlying cycles of violence and reciprocity which stifle the potential of western society on a subconscious level.
From concept to final render, the film took about a month, spanning 2 lock downs here in Melbourne, Australia.
